How To Create An Instagram Story Poll

Polls are a great way to increase participation in Instagram stories. Since Instagram sent the first basic poll, they have supported it with incredible iterations of this feature that are easy to use. But I am often asked how to do a survey on Instagram stories, so I wanted to break it down for you.

Instagram loves engagement and when it seems that people interact with your content, it will usually send you more eyes.

Therefore, by adding features like Polls to your story, you can increase the engagement of your followers by intervening and interacting with their contents.

How To Create An Instagram Story Poll

Instagram now has polls. The app launches new stickers almost every week, and certainly when there is a holiday or a new exaggerated movie. These polls are a type of interactive tag that you can add to your stories. You can even add a different poll to each image in your story. They are simple polls that allow you to ask a question that can only have two options.

Here’s how to create an Instagram Story poll.

Create An Instagram Story Poll

  1. Open the Instagram app and tap the camera button in the upper left corner.
  2. Take a picture of anything. If the poll you wish to conduct concerns a specific object, it is better to take a photo. An obvious example, and probably something that we will see happen with this feature, is when you go shopping and you have to decide between two items.
  3. Once you have taken the photo, you have the option to change it. This is where you add the poll. Tap the sticker button and in the sticker library, tap the poll item.instagram-poll-sticker
  4. Write a question and if the default options Yes / No are set, tap “Done” at the top right. If you want to use custom answers for the survey, tap the Yes / No box to add a custom response.
  5. In the end, tap “Done” at the top right.

You can send this poll image this image to your story, to a group or to some specific friends. History will be able to vote once and it seems that the vote cannot be changed later. You can also vote, but there are no take-backs. There is no stopwatch in the poll, but since an Instagram story expires after 24 hours, the poll will expire with it.

As a person who shared the story and took part in the poll, you can see who voted in the poll and which option they chose from the two that were given.

More engaging stories

Polls make Instagram stories interactive and more attractive. It’s one thing to watch a live stream of your favorite account and leave comments, but this is a completely different kind of interaction.

Brands, large and small, will want to take advantage of this, but it has its negative side. Just ask the people who manage Bethesda’s Instagram account. The company interviewed its followers asking if they had downloaded the “free” game The Elder Scrolls: Legends, which is not exactly free to play. It’s free to download. Maybe they were looking for a resounding Yes, but it turned out that most fans had never played the game.
