The affected equipment was sold mainly between September 2015 and February 2017 and corresponds only to the 15-inch model of mid-2015.

How to tell if my MacBook Pro is affected by the battery problem

If you have a 15-inch MacBook Pro purchased between the mentioned dates, you should check if you can opt for a free battery change thanks to this program. Not only because you have a new battery, but also to avoid the risk of fire or explosion.

To do this, click on the menu with the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen and then choose the About this Mac option. Once inside, look at the line where the model of the equipment is, in brackets the model date will appear.

If the model is Retina, 15 inches, mid-201 5, your team may be among those affected by this problem. To make the last check, access this Apple website and enter the serial number in the space dedicated to it (the serial number will be found in the same window as the model data).

How the battery change process works

If your MacBook Pro is among those affected and you should visit the technical service, the first thing you should do is contact Apple through the support section of your website or request an appointment at your nearest Apple store.

Both in the store and in the support area of the web they will inform you of all the details of the process. In both cases, the equipment will have to travel to an Apple repair center and once there it will be checked before making the battery change. The signature itself indicates that before sending the equipment for repair it is highly advisable that you make a complete backup of the system.

This is not the first time that the company has launched a preventive program of this kind. In the past we have already seen iPhone 7 microphone repair programs, iPhone 6s front cameras or MacBook keyboards, to name a few examples.
