How To See The Time Seen In The YouTube Apps

Big tech companies like Apple and Google are slowly realizing, but surely people are dependent on their phones and that’s not a good thing. Both are implementing features specifically designed to help people monitor how much time they spend on their devices and Google’s latest effort to help people monitor their use is presented in the form of a new “Time Watched” section in the app YouTube, in addition to integration with the Android digital wellbeing feature.

In the “Time Watched” section of the YouTube app, available in the Android and iOS versions of the app, you can see how much time you spent watching videos on that particular day, the previous day and the 7 previous days. You will also receive a daily average. The statistics don’t just come from the time you spend watching videos on mobile devices: every time you watch YouTube videos and log into your Google account, it counts for statistics. However, YouTube TV and YouTube Music are not included.

The apps and devices they run on can be difficult to leave. There is enough new content in social media apps every hour of the day so you never run out of new things to read or watch. At least, you can always get into a good discussion on Twitter. That’s exactly why Apple is adding Screen Time to iPhones on iOS 12. It’s a new feature that lets you limit the time you spend on certain types of apps. Of course, not only iOS users need restrictions and other apps are adding their own time limitation functions. YouTube has added a new Time Watch feature that reminds you to take a break.

Time Watched On YouTube

Time Watched is available on iOS and Android. Make sure you are running the latest version of the YouTube app. The feature (so far) is not available in the web version of YouTube.

  1. Open the YouTube app and tap on your profile icon in the upper right corner.
  2. On the Account screen, there must be an “Observed time” option.
  3. Tap the Weather option displayed and you’ll get a summary of how much time you’ve spent watching YouTube videos.

The summary provides statistics for today, yesterday, last week and the average time spent in the application. By default, there is no set limit on how much the application can use. You can configure it by enabling the ‘Remind me to take a break’ option. The Reminder Frequency menu opens where you can set how often you need to remember to close the application and do something else.

The YouTube time display feature is not the same as the screen time. It won’t block you from the YouTube app if you’ve been watching videos for too long. Instead, the app will tell you at regular intervals that you choose to take a break. Apart from that, the app tells you how much time we spend, which is a passive way of being ashamed of using it a little less.

It is a pity that the feature has not been extended to the website. The YouTube app is not exactly easy with a device battery. Play video, then quickly download a device’s battery, which means people are more likely to watch YouTube on a desktop computer with a more reliable power supply. The functionality should really extend to the website. You can’t use Time Watched if you haven’t signed in to your Google account.
