How To Disable Autocorrect On Google Android Keyboard?
- Open Gboard (formerly known as Google Keyboard). You can do it through the app drawer. Alternatively, while using the keyboard, hold down the “comma” icon and tap the setup button (in the shape of gear) to access the Gboard preferences.
Note: if you can’t find a comma button, switch to the numeric tab to find it or click “/”.
- Once you are in Gboard preferences, scroll down and look for the option that says “Text correction”.
- In the settings of Text Correction, scroll down until you see the Auto-Correction option. Disable it if you want to disable the function on the device. You can also play with additional settings such as “Next = word suggestions”, spell check “, “automatic capitalization,” and more.

Can’t access Gboard settings?
For some reason, if you can’t access Gboard preferences directly from the keyboard, proceed as follows.
- Open “Settings” on your Android, via the app drawer or the quick link in the notifications panel.
- Scroll down and touch “Language and Input”. You can get it in the “System” submenu in the higher versions of Android.
- Tap the active keyboard (Google keyboard in this case) to enter the keyboard settings. Now, follow steps 2 and 3 above to disable autocorrect on Android or disable autocorrect on Gboard.
