How to activate and program Do Not Disturb Mode on your Mac

Has it ever happened to you that you are working with high levels of concentration and a notification interrupts you? The Mac is Apple’s preferred tool for work and productivity. However, we have seen many functions of the iPhone or iPad implemented. So much so that today we receive even the same notifications, calls, alerts of all kinds, etc. And that, to work, can be a serious problem and a constant nuisance. Next, we will see how easy it is to activate, deactivate or program the Do Not Disturb mode. And goodbye to the beeps, sounds, and notifications.

Do not disturb on Mac, a must-have feature.

Every person is a world. Surely many users like to receive notifications on their iMac or MacBook. It’s not my case. For the Mac, I prefer not to have distractions or duplications of notices. I already have them on my iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. In my case, having them on the computer is a real problem. Therefore, in addition to deactivating most of them in Settings, which is a somewhat extreme option, activate the Do Not Disturb mode. What does this feature offer us? Well, like in the rest of devices, it avoids notifications, sounds, and alerts. In other words, it makes the Mac not bother us while we work, we see a series or we read this same tutorial.

To activate it, we can enter Settings> Notifications. From there, we see each application to modify the settings separately. But, above, appears the icon of the moon, the Do Not Disturb. We go in and see all the options that macOS offers us. On the one hand, we can program it for the hours that we want to remain calm. On the other hand, they give us a choice among other points, such as activating while the equipment is at rest.

How to activate it quickly with a couple of gestures

If we want a quick shortcut for it, we can go to the Today and Notifications window. We open it by clicking on the upper right button of the Menu and, sliding down. At first, our widget will appear. Remember that you can modify, delete and edit them to your liking. Above them, when you scroll, two buttons appear: Do Not Disturb and Night Shift.

It is very similar to what we found in the Control Center of the iPad or the iPhone. Little by little operating systems are looking and simplifying many processes. Therefore, you will have no problem adjusting this and other modes.
