Wouldn’t you guys like to view your life in reverse? Ok, that’s too existential as well. Have you seen those cool videos, where water flows in reverse too? Well, we’re here to tell you that you don’t have any fancy software in order to do that. All you have is the humble Snapchat app! In this article, we will cover how you can reverse videos to make your snaps stand out among the rest actually. In this article, we are going to talk about How to Reverse a Video on Snapchat – Best Ways. Let’s begin!
How can you access motion filters on Snapchat?
Snapchat also has a great big library of stickers and also face filters on its app. However, it also offers a few motion filters for your videos as well. Well, three to be exact also. Unlike face filters, the motion filters can only be added when the video is shot. These filters are accessible along with the other location-based filters that you guys can add to your videos.
When you have your video simply swipe left and right in order to attach the respective filter. You can only use one motion filter at a time. But, you guys can add as a lot of stickers to your video as you guys like. The more the better, right as well?
The three motion filters applicable on Snapchat are: Slow motion, Fast forward, and Reverse as well. Unlike face filters, these motion filters are always accessible, and also always in the same place as well.
How to Reverse a video in Snapchat
There are actually two ways you can use the Snapchat app in order to reverse videos. One is through simply shooting the video in the app and also applying the motion filter. The other is via using a video from your camera roll actually.
With only the Snapchat app
Open the Snapchat app and tap and hold on to the recording button to record a video. Now release the button when you are done recording actually. You guys can now decorate your video along with stickers, text, etc.
Now just swipe left on your screen. You will first be greeted via visual filters. There are mostly four of these filters. Keep on swiping till you reach the fifth filter. You guys have now reached the motion filters. The seventh filter is the one you guys want (so swipe left seven times). The filter is identified via the three reverse arrows.
You guys will notice your video now plays in reverse!
Note: The reverse motion filter can only be applied to videos that are actually less than 11 seconds (one video frame). If your video goes into another frame, then you will not see the reverse motion filter as well.
Via a video from your camera roll
You guys can also use a video from your phone’s Gallery and then reverse it via the Snapchat app. If you already have your video, that’s really great, if not, go ahead and then use your device’s camera app in order to shoot your video.
Now open the Snapchat app. Swipe up from the camera screen in order to reach your Memories. Click on ‘Camera Roll’ in the top panel, and choose your video.
Now click and hold on to the video to bring up a menu. Choose ‘Edit Snap’. You guys can now swipe left to reach the reverse motion filter as well.
Tips for a good reverse video
Here are some tips in order to help you get creative along with Snapchat’s reverse motion filter.
- Add voice: Whenever you use the reverse filter, it’s not only the video that actually gets reversed. Any audio that is recorded along with the video also gets reversed. This adds to a cool effect on your already reversed video as well. So just make sure you say something in the background when recording your video.
- Do the impossible: If you are going to be turning back time, you guys better do it in style! Just use the reverse motion filter on things that don’t mostly work that way. Such as flowing water, flying birds, running dogs, you get the idea.
- Slow that video down: Most of the phones nowadays have some form of slow-motion shooting mode in their camera app. Shoot your video in slow motion, and then just use the reverse motion filter on it. This is sure in order to elevate your snap to a whole new level!
- Shoot in good lighting: We already know that how bad the Snapchat camera is. On top of that, adding a filter is just going to bring your video quality down even more as well. So whenever shooting a video for the reverse motion filter, then make sure you shoot it in good natural light as well.
