  • Right-click on the PDF file and select “Google Chrome” from the “Open with” menu.
  • You will be prompted to provide the password. Then enter the correct password to open up the PDF in Chrome.
  • Afterward, click on the “Print” button at the top-right corner.
  • In the left panel, click on the “Change” button under the “Destination” section.
  • Now just click on the blue “Save” button and save the new PDF file on your PC.

This new PDF file will not be password protect. However, still saving the PDF data in its original form. But, do keep in mind that this method will not work if the PDF file is not allowed to be printed. In most of the cases, people do not prevent printing rights (especially official companies). So this method should work in most cases.

Tip: You can follow the same steps in Opera and Microsoft Edge browser as well to remove password from a PDF file.

Use Adobe Acrobat Pro

You can also do this the official way with Adobe Acrobat Pro, a paid application. This is a different program from the free Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF viewer that most people have. Adobe offers a week-long free trial of Acrobat Pro. Adobe Acrobat Pro will work even if the PDF has printing restrictions, and cannot be printed in other applications using the above trick.

Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro and provide its password to view it. Click the lock icon at the left side of the window and click “Permission Details”. You can also click File > Properties and click the “Security” tab. Click the “Security Method” box, select “No Security”, and click “OK” to remove the password.

Then click File > Save to save your changes. You can also just close the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC window and you will be prompt to save your changes. Once you have, the password will be removed from the original PDF file.
