How to Turn Off Automatic Playback of Videos in the Facebook App for iPhone & iPad

A Video is increasingly important on the Internet and, especially, on social networks. Facebook is aware of this and for some time ago it has activated by default the automatic playback of videos in its app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

This automatic playback makes consuming video more natural and comfortable (although sometimes it is a bit annoying, since the playback starts without volume, something that on the other hand is generally appreciated, and you can miss the first seconds of videos that do they interest you). Despite this advantage, caught with tweezers, the fact is that most users are annoyed that the playback of the videos starts automatically and therefore in the following lines we want to explain how to disable the automatic playback of videos in the Facebook app for iOS.

In addition to the inconvenience discussed above, the automatic playback also has other disadvantages such as extra data consumption, something especially problematic if you have a mobile rate with few GB included and an increase in the battery consumption of the social network app.

Are you tired of Facebook videos playing automatically on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and want to know how to turn this off? Keep reading to discover it.

To Disable Automatic Playback of Videos in the Facebook App for iOS you should do the following:

  1. Access the Facebook app and tap on the icon with the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the screen.
  2. Scroll and touch on Settings and privacy.
  3. Now tap on Settings.
  4. Scroll again and touch on Videos and photos in the Multimedia content and contacts section.
  5. Tap on AutoPlay and choose the option Never play videos automatically.

It is done! Now you can go back to the Facebook feed and the videos will no longer play automatically, but you will have to start them manually when you want to see one (except the ads, which will follow with automatic playback).

What do you think Facebook and other social networks have chosen to activate the automatic playback of videos? Do you find something comfortable or do you prefer to start playback manually when you are interested in the content?
