Windows Could not start the Print Spooler Service on Local Computer

Registry Fix

  • Tap on Windows Key + R and then type regedit and click on Enter in order to open Registry Editor.
  • Now navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler

  • Just make sure to highlight the Spooler key in the left window pane and then in the right window pane find the string that is called DependOnService.
  • Just double-click on the DependOnService string and then change its value via deleting the HTTP part and just leaving the RPCSS part as well.
  • Tap on OK in order to save changes and close Registry Editor.
  • Just reboot your PC and then see if the error is resolve or not.

Run Printer Troubleshooter | Print Spooler Service

  • You have to type “troubleshooting” in the Windows Search bar and tap on Troubleshooting.
  • Next, from the left window pane, you have to select View all.
  • Then from the Troubleshoot computer problems list choose Printer.
  • Just follow on-screen instructions and then let the Printer Troubleshooter run.

Start Print Spooler Services

  • Tap on Windows Key + R and then type services.msc and click on Enter.
  • Just find the Print Spooler service in the list and double-tap on it.
  • Just make sure the Startup type is all set to Automatic and the service is running, and then tap on Stop and then again tap on start in order to restart the service.
  • Tap on Apply followed via OK.

Delete all the files in PRINTERS folder | Print Spooler Service

  • Tap on Windows Key + R and then type services.msc and click on Enter.
  • Just find the Print Spooler service and then right-click on it and choose Stop.
  • Now in File Explorer, just navigate to the following folder:

C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS

Note: It will basically ask you to continue and then click on it.

  • You have to Delete all the files in the PRINTERS folder (Not the folder itself) and then just close each and everything.
  • Now again head to services.msc window and then start Print Spooler service.

Run System File Checker (SFC) and Check Disk (CHKDSK)

  • Tap on Windows Key + X and then click on Command Prompt(Admin).
  • Then type the following in the cmd and click on enter:
Sfc /scannow
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
  • Now wait for the above process in order to finish and when done restart your PC.
  • Next, you need to run CHKDSK
  • Also, let the above process complete and then again reboot your PC in order to save changes.

Run CCleaner and Malwarebytes |  Print Spooler Service

  • First of all, you guys have to download and install CCleaner Malwarebytes.
  • You have to run Malwarebytes and then let it scan your system for harmful files.
  • If malware is found, then it will automatically remove them.
  • Now run CCleaner and in the “Cleaner” section, that is basically under the Windows tab, we actually suggest checking the following selections to be cleaned:

  • When you’ve made certain the proper points are check, then just simply tap on Run Cleaner, and let CCleaner run its course.
  • In order to clean your system further select the Registry tab and make sure the following are checked:
