Head over to the TWRP official site and download or install the TWRP build corresponding to your mobile device. Regarding this, there is a very important point worth discussing. Well, there might be only a single IMG file for some mobile devices, others might be having two different files- IMG and ZIP.

In these devices, we can directly flash the TWRP.IMG to the recovery partition. Alternatively, the devices without the recovery partition fall in the latter bracket. So we’ll first boot the TWRP.IMG to the boot partition and then flash the TWRP.ZIP file permanently. Here are all the required steps in this regard.

Flash TWRP on Android

At first, rename the recovery files to twrp. Hence the full names should be twrp.zip (if available) and twrp.img. Also, move these recovery files to the platform-tools folder. Then move the twrp.zip to your mobile’s internal storage.

  • Plug your mobile into the computer via USB cable.
  • Then move to the platform-tools folder, input in CMD in the address bar, and press Enter. As it’ll launch the Command Prompt.
  • Run the below command to boot your mobile device to Fastboot mode:
    adb reboot bootloader
  • Now your device will be booted to TWRP. Now follow the instructions as per the TWRP files available for your mobile device

Devices With TWRP.IMG

  • If your mobile device only has the IMG file, then run the below command:
    fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
  • Now run the below command to simply boot your mobile device to the TWRP recovery.
    fastboot boot twrp.img
  • When it boots to TWRP, you can then boot it to the operating system, via the Reboot > System option in TWRP.

Devices With Both TWRP.IMG & TWRP.ZIP

  • If you are having both IMG or ZIP files, then, first of all, boot your mobile device to TWRP through the following command:
    fastboot boot twrp.img
  • Now your device will be booted to the TWRP Recovery. But it is a temporary install. For permanent installation, move to Install and navigate to the twrp.zip file and perform a right swipe to download it.
  • You can now reboot your mobile device to OS. For that, move to Reboot > System.
